News!

So we have some news, the blog is moving locations on the web! We’ve decided to begin hosting the blog ourselves, this will give us more control to offer a more engaging, visually stimulating, and all around better experience. The new address is –

www.normansprinteryblog.com

In future posts we will be directing readers that way. We’ll keep both up for a bit to make sure everyone makes the jump. So if you’re reading this now your ahead of the game. Go ahead and switch your blog reader, bookmark, or whatever you may use to keep up with these things.

See you at the new address folks!

Especially when created for one of the most respected graphic designers alive.

Recently we had the privilege of printing invitations to the iconic designer, Massimo Vignelli’s, surprise birthday party. He turned 80 this year! The design is not unexpected, grid based, Helvetica in black and red letterpress, perfectly simple. The finished invite was mounted on 2 layers of museum board, the thing is stiff as a piece of plywood. We do a lot of interesting work, but this was an extremely special and unique piece which we are proud to have printed.

Read the New York Times article on the party and see photos here .

P.S. Just to be clear, we did not design this piece. We did the letterpress and mounting work.

February Calendar

So it’s already February, goodness! Here is this months calendar. 3 color letterpress, die-cut and hand assembled. There is a lot going on here, the detail is pretty awesome, if I may say so. The main ornaments used are in the Caravan Family, an amazingly usable collection.

If you don’t know the backstory to our promo calendars they are a piece we send out each and every month to current and prospective clients. If you’r a designer, work for an agency, or have a need for custom printing contact me and I’ll get you on the list. This year has started out with some great jobs which I’ll be posting soon.

As always thanks for checking in,

This is a new years card we sent out at the beginning of the year. It’s printed in a warm gray with a blind (no ink) hit. Always a classy combination!
Hope everyone has had a great start to the new year.

Here’s the very first calendar of the year!
It’s one color letterpress, with a copper foil stamp. The foil is really lovely with the paper texture coming through. These where done on Neenah Sundance 110# Cover.

I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season. We’re looking forward to another year of bringing your work to life.
